I mistakenly misdiagnosed an injury I had as a pulled abdominal muscle. Tommy B. explained to me that it was probably actually a rib and may be a classic condition known as "Ju-jitsu Rib". He said that sometimes the rib can actually dislocate, poke out of your chest, and cause severe pain. I told him that hadn't happened yet and it was just sore. He proceeded to roll with me, and either in a stroke of Sully Strategy or just wanting to bring his anatomy lesson to life, he pushed both of his hands into my ribcage, causing my rib to pop out. Even though my rib kept popping in and out painfully, I thought I could keep going and it would get better. Again, Tom pressed into my rib cage with both hands, certainly not lessening the pain, and causing the rib to dislocate once again. Now it hurts to breath or move my torso.
There were no half measures here... Tom had something to teach and he wasn't going to stop until I understood it. Either that, or it was payback for all my busting on his sweater vests and pink ties.
