Our friend Roberto "Tussa" Alencar won his third consecutive no-gi world championship last week! He won his weight class in dramatic fashion and also won the absolute, defeating defending champ Braga Neto. Tussa always attacks and goes for the submission, as you can see in the video of his match here: http://www.nogi.com/live/index.php?d=t Most of the other black belt finals were 10 minute snoozers of guys laying on top of each other for the pt or advantage wins. Can't wait to have Tussa back again training with us!!!
Also, Jimmy Quinlan, a purple belt at Association school Mass BJJ, took the gold in his weight class and silver in the absolute (adult)! I was out in LA and was able to watch and coach, but he certainly didn't need the help, as he thoroughly dominated his division, winning his first match 10-0 and the semi's and finals by submission. He took everyone down at will and had great top pressure/passing...no one stood a chance!
