AGC coming back to Maine

The AGC will be returning to Maine on  May 17th. They had a huge team there last time around and plan on doing the same this year.  May will be a busy month for the Academy  grapplers with the Black Fly in the beginning of May and the AGC in the middle.  The Academy will be entering a team in the Pro Team Competition.  We will announce the team at the end of next week.   We'd like to as many people as possible to compete in these local tournaments to encourage the promoters to return to Maine which will give all of us a lot greater opportunity for competition. Here is the info we received about the AGC.

Last year the Easter Bowl featured 200 of the Northeast's top grappling competitors, and what proved to be the deepest absolute division in New England's history. This year we expect an even stronger event, and we are excited to be returning to Maine.
The Easter Bowl will be held on May 17th in Biddeford Maine at Biddeford High School, and will feature New England's first Advanced Team Division with a $1500.00 purse to the winning team! You can still expect the same Four Fight Guarantee, 80 amateur divisions, and bracket formats that you have seen at all of our AGC events in the past 2 years. This year however instead of our Absolute Pro divisions we will be doing an Advanced Team division.  Here is how it works:

  1. Any team can enter as registration closes on the day of the event.
  2. 5 fighters to each team, entering 1 fighter into each of these 5 separate weight classes: under 225, under 205, under 185, under 170, and under 155.
  3. Each team is entered into the overall team bracket competing head-to-head with every other team. Team A competes against Team B, the first team to win 3 matches advances within the bracket. The team that wins the bracket gets a check for 1500.00.
  4. Any team member entered can compete in the amateur divisions in addition to the team event.
  5. $325.00 per team

Let’s do this then. What do you think John & Phil? I will also compete too. I competed back in the AGC back in October 2007 I only took 3rd in my weight class but it was fun. I few guys from the UFC ended up showing up like Marcus Davis. Also I think the new Guy Jay J will compete he did awesome in 2007 taking 1st place in his weight class. Let’s take that $1500.00 purse and dominate!!! Plus our team will get a nice plaque for the wall.
We can all go out to dinner after the competition…
